The ATM2 is a big part of Dr. Ron Spallone’s Chiropractic Practice in Lakewood, Colorado. Dr. Spallone has been voted Colorado’s “Sports Chiropractor of the Year” and “National Chiropractor of the Year” by C.E.P.A., the association for the Care of Elite and Professional Athletes. He’s been the treating chiropractor for John Elway’s Celebrity Golf Tournament for 5 years.
“The ATM has become a vital piece of equipment for the golf pro’s in my office as well as the hundreds of casual golfers.” Dr. Spallone says, “Not only is it a mainstay for helping people recover from injuries, but many of my patients use it solely to improve their capabilities.”
Due to the fact that it can achieve instantaneous results, Dr. Spallone says that he has a lot of patients stop by just before a round of golf to ensure they will play pain free and perform at a higher level. “I had a pro that injured himself a few days prior to the Colorado Open Tournament. This injury normally would have taken 2 weeks to get better. I met him at the clinic at 6am the day before and the day of the tournament and used the ATM2 and the ProAdjuster, which is a computerized high tech device used to safely adjust the spine without popping or cracking. With just those two visits he teed off pain free and was able to successfully compete.”
The ATM2 can be used for increasing range of motion in nearly every plane. It especially helps if one particular range is limited. For instance, if a golfer has a hard time bending over or has pain with bending forward; the ATM can be a Godsend. We place the patient on the ATM2 and we ‘lock in’ and stabilize the joints that cause the dysfunction. Then we have the golfer perform the movement, which was previously painful or limited. But this time he or she does it pain free. We then perform repetitions in this new ‘pain free’ environment. By doing this we ‘reeducate’ the muscles in order to reduce pain and improve function. “I can’t remember a time where a patient didn’t say something like, ‘Wow’ or ‘That’s amazing.’
“I’ve been able to help people with sciatica, disc problems, back spasms, back injuries, stiff hips and stiff backs as well. It’s a great tool, practicing without it would be like going to the golf course without your putter… it’s indispensable when your are treating golfers.”
